Which of your books should I buy for my niece/nephew/kid?

Hello, friends! First of all — thank you for asking! I’m so flattered that you want to buy one of my books! Here is a breakdown of some of my favorite books that I’ve written by age group, which should be helpful as you decide which one is right for the kid in your life. I’ve shared the Amazon links below, but many of these books can be found elsewhere online like Target, Barnes and Noble, American Girl, and wherever books are sold.

5 and Under
I haven’t written books for this age, BUT I have done some early readers that can easily be read aloud to kids under 3 or can be great practice for those who are just beginning to learn how to read. Let’s Go! is my favorite, but you can also check out A Zebra’s Day, A Visit to the Vet, and Small to Scary Animals. These books are technically written for ages 6-8.

6-8 Years Old
The early readers mentioned above in the 5 and Under section are designed to be read aloud by kids in this age group. If you’re looking for a more substantial book, I have a couple story collections that are popular with kids this age called Five-Minute True Stories: Animal BFFs and Five-Minute True Stories: Animal Rescue.

9-12 Years Old
Jackpot! This is the age group I write for most often. If you’re looking for a more science-based book to inspire kids to make a difference, try The Plastic Problem* or 101 Small Ways to Change the World. If you know of a kid who is going on an upcoming trip or loves to explore, pick up A Smart Girl’s Guide to Travel* (not just for girls!). If you’re looking for a novel, Pumpkin’s Story is a middle grade novel based on a true story about a miniature horse who had to learn how to walk and the woman who rescued her. If you’re looking for some quiz books, Bored No More* and Which [Blank] Are You?* are some of my favorites!

12 and Up
Project You* tackles more complex topics about how to care for your mind and body that are appropriate for later middle school ages and high school. Botanical Beauty* is a great pick for kids who love DIY projects. Younger kids (ages 9+) will like Botanical Beauty too (at-home spa day, anyone?) but they may need some parental help.

* I put an asterisk next to the books I get royalties on. Buying one of those books is the most helpful to me, but purchasing any of my books is great! 🙂
